DJ Andy Smith presents: The Document I

Funk, Hip Hop, Rock 'n' roll Album
The Document Vol 1 - DJ Andy Smith (FFRR/GO Beat!/Phase 4). Released worldwide in 1998. After I did a DJ set on Bostons' WFNX' radio station after a Portishead show (that I had warmed up for) The US label that was working the current Portishead LP at the time ('Portishead') used a recording of that show to promote the band & LP. It was much bootlegged.
The US label (FFRR/Polygram) asked If I would like to do my own mix CD. This became 'Document 1'.
I couldn't use all of the tracks from the radio show (Jimi Hendrix & The Beatles were a 'no'). Lalo Schifrin was a yes until the very last minute when they said 'no' (I'm sure nothing to do with Lalo Schifrin himself as when Portishead were touring in LA Geoff Barrow and myself were asked if we wanted to come down to his basement to hear unreleased recordings to sample (but we never went!).
The first tune - 'G.B Beats' was an unreleased 'Geoff Barrow' track that never got used as a 'P' track.
